Judith E. Wessel

Judith E. (Nilsen) Wessel, 99 passed away peacefully at her home, in Walpole, MA on November 10, 2022.

She was born in Boston, MA on November 9, 1923 to the late Abel Nilsen and Sophia (Rude) Nilsen. Judy retired as a bookkeeper from St. Monica’s home in Roxbury, MA while living in Milton, MA. During her retirement she and her husband Wes traveled cross country visiting all the national parks along the way. They eventually purchased land in Marstons Mills, MA and in Pt. St. Lucie, FL. Her husband Wes built two beautiful homes for them. They traveled as snowbirds, to Florida and back to Cape Cod in the summers. Cape Cod was where she enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her grandchildren. Going to the beach, clamming, picking cranberries from the backyard and vacations at the camp, her parents’ family cottage, was what she lived for every summer. The time she took for herself was spent reading, listening to music, needlepoint, crocheting and cooking for her family. We were blessed to have had her well of strength in our family. She will be forever missed.

Judith was the beloved wife of the late John (Wes) H. Wessel, and is survived by her three children: Sandra Brim of Colorado, Richard Wessel of New Hampshire, Andrea Doolan and her husband Paul of Walpole, MA. She was survived by her dear sister Barbara Haugh of Weymouth, MA; by her adored grandchildren Kristen Favreau, Lauren Brim, Meryl Leann, Miles Brim, Leah Langley, Erica Garry, Alanna and Wesley Doolan; and by seven great-grandchildren. She is also predeceased by her brothers Robert and Arnold Nilsen, and by her sister Dorothy Lehmann.

Memorial service will be held at Union Congregational Church, 55 Rhoades Ave. E.  Walpole, on Saturday 11/26 at 10:30 am.
