Judith A. Youngclaus


Judith A. “Judy, Jude” (Duplex) Youngclaus (73) of Dorchester passed away peacefully at the Boston Home on October 16, 2020. Born December 2, 1946 in Stamford CT, she was the daughter of the late William T. Duplex and Ann Mary (Pintek) Duplex. The beloved wife of 50 years to Paul J. Youngclaus of Quincy. Loving mother of Kerin Youngclaus of Weymouth, Bethany Edwards of Milton and her late husband Bruce Michael “Mike” and Daniel Youngclaus and his wife Kristi Youngclaus of Rockland. Her greatest joy and love were her grandchildren, Nina to Korbyn and Grandma to Kaylee, Payton Judith and Lucas. Sister of the late James Duplex, William Duplex of FL and Maryann Favale of CT. Daughter in law of the late Frederick Youngclaus and Josephine Troy Youngclaus. Sister in Law of Sr. Peggy Youngclaus SND of South Boston and the late Fred and Jack Youngclaus. Judith is also survived by her sisters in law, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends at the Boston Home.

Judith was a resident of Stamford, CT throughout her childhood where she graduated from Stamford Catholic High School (’64). Following, she graduated as an RN from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing (‘67), Hartford, CT. She moved to Boston, where she met Paul, to pursue nursing at Massachusetts General Hospital. Judith has resided in Weymouth, Norwell, where she raised her children, Marshfield and Dorchester, MA. Over the years, she volunteered for the Norwell Visiting Nurses Association, the Simon of Cyrene Society (South Boston) and an Adult Literacy Program. Judith retired from providing private duty nursing for families across the south shore. She enjoyed her final working years running the Notre Dame Academy Bookstore (Hingham). Judith loved summer, spending time at the beach or her pool with family and friends. You could often find her reading, or in later years listening to, the most recent Mary Higgins Clark, or James Patterson novel. She always sought recommendations for her next book or movie viewing. She also loved decorating, baking for and hosting the holidays. Judith was a Boston sports enthusiast. She was a lifelong baseball and the Red Sox fan, her all- time favorite being Dwight “Dewey” Evans. Judith enjoyed going to Broadway shows in Boston and the Museum of Fine Arts.

Judith graciously endured Multiple Sclerosis for over 30 years. Her strength, gratitude, compassion and kind and generous spirit touched the hearts of all who knew her. Judith embraced her life at the Boston Home by participating in many activities including English as a second language for staff, the welcoming committee and Home community events. Judith’s family would like to offer their deep gratitude to the Boston Home for the care that they provided her for the last decade, the vibrant community that she became a part of and for giving her a place to call home.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, October 27 in St. Gregory’s Church, 2215 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester from 10 – 11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM.

Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
