Mrs. Josephine “Joyce” Malfa Cady, of Weymouth, formerly of Dorchester, passed away peacefully at home with her family on May 5, 2023. She will be deeply missed.
Beloved wife of the late Francis “Fran” Cady.
Loving mother of Joseph Cady and his wife, Amanda Nelson, of New York City. Devoted sister of Rose Anne Malfa of Wallingford, CT and Antoinette “Toni” Malfa of Weymouth. Cherished grandmother of James and Elle Cady.
Joyce was a dedicated Boston School Teacher for 38 years until her retirement from the Haley School in Roslindale. She was passionate about education, and especially loved teaching elementary students how to read, as well as imparting morals and kindness.
As a devout Catholic, faith was central in Joyce’s life. She was a long-time parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth, where she attended Mass daily, volunteered, and attended spirituality groups. She was also a member of the 3rd Order of Mary.
Joyce was a generous person who loved unconditionally and was devoted to caring for others. She especially loved feeding people and hosting big Italian meals. Joyce loved all children, and regularly cared for the neighborhood kids. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her son and her beloved grandchildren, James and Elle.
