Jorge Ariel Gonzalez

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jorge Ariel Gonzalez, of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy and Boston. He died unexpectedly on Monday, May 31, 2021 after suffering a heart attack at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth at the age of 68.

Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on March 6, 1953, he was the son of the late Francisco Dominguez Gonzalez and Georgina Morales Gonzalez.

He came to the United States as a teenager with his family and made Boston his home. For years he worked as a truck driver, then a truck foreman and later in life was a laborer for construction projects as well as a landlord in property management.

Ariel was a hard worker and enjoyed the relationships he built throughout the years.

Survived by his devoted wife Julia (Figueroa) Gonzalez, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. He was the beloved father of Amy DaSilva and her husband Marcelo of Quincy and Jasmine De Puy and her husband Jeff of Canton. He was a loving grandfather to Arabelle and Christian DaSilva, both of Quincy. He was the dear brother of Benito Gonzalez of Florida, Carmelo Gonzalez of Brockton and Zaida Estremera of Wilmington. Ariel was preceded in death by his eight other siblings. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Ariel loved cars, action movies, his tomato plants, road trips, and his family – not necessarily in that order. As a dad he was “Mr. Fix it” whether it was an object or helping you mend a broken heart – he often had the right tools or the right words, to ease the pain. He was a dotting “Dadda,” taking extreme pride in his two grandchildren. He was the fun uncle and very supportive to his siblings, nieces and nephews and could always be counted on as a good neighbor and friend.

Over the years Ariel dealt with a number of health challenges from Diabetes, to Cancer, to partial vision loss but through it all remained determined in not allowing any of that to slow him down.

That strong will and determination and his positive attitude are part of his legacy that will continue through his family.

He will be fondly remembered and missed by all the lives he touched.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, prior to the Funeral Mass at Divine Mercy Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.

Services will conclude with interment in Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park.
