Sanderson, John P., Jr. “Jack” of Hingham, passed away peacefully February 22, 2018.

Jack was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He graduated from Boston College High School in 1947 and Boston College in 1951. He proudly served as a Colonel in the United States Marine Corps for 30 years and was the president of the Marine Corps Reserves Officers Association, Iwo Jima Chapter. He was the founder and president of Sanderson, O’Brien, and Associates. Jack was also a member of the Cohasset Golf Club and was the head usher at St. Paul’s church for many years. He adored his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Jack also enjoyed golfing, traveling, gardening, and spending time with his Marine Corps friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Beloved husband of the late Anne M. (McInerney) Sanderson. Loving father of John P. Sanderson III and his wife Elaine of Melrose, David F. Sanderson and his wife Pamela of Rockland, Joan Sanderson-Gonthier and her husband Gary of Michigan, Leeanne McLaughlin and her husband Michael of Chelmsford, and Beth Olsen and her husband Steve of Mansfield. Cherished brother of Marianne Shay of Sandwich and Ruth Kingsbury of Maine. Devoted grandfather of Grace Sanderson, Patrick, Joseph, and Shannon McLaughlin, Nicole Sanderson, and Andrew and Marina Gonthier. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 9-10:30 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM followed by the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 11 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne. In memory of Jack, donations may be made to Glastonbury Abbey, 16 Hull Street, Hingham, MA 02043.
