John J. Callaghan

Mr. John J. Callaghan, of Weymouth and Dennisport died on December 9, 2015.

John worked for Boston Edison until his retirement. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion and the Weymouth Elks. John was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, and loved spending his summers with his family on the beach at Camper’s Haven, Cape Cod. John’s greatest joy in life was his beautiful family, including his many grandchildren. He would drive near and far to watch whatever sporting event or performance that they were involved in. He will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Beloved husband of 59 years to Lorraine (Barnes) Callaghan.

Loving father of John Callaghan, Jr and his wife, Wendy, of Forest Hill, MD, Donna D’Amato and her husband, Paul “Chip” of Middleboro, Jane Del Dotto and her husband, Edward, of Newmarket, NH, Michael Callaghan and his wife, Mary, of Jupiter, FL, and Susan Gutro and her husband, Doug, of Quincy. Brother of Marie Bohling of Stoneham, and the late Margaret Ann Scott. Adored Grampy to Jay and his wife, Kelly, Bobby, Paulina, Maria, Heidi, Kirsten, Lydia, Kyle, Micah, Kaylee, Brian, and Scotty. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
