John J. Byrne

Byrne, John J. of Quincy, orginally of Brighton and South Boston, passed away February 17, 2017 after a brief illness. 

John graduated from the Christopher Columbus High School in Boston and later attended The University of Dayton Ohio where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. John enjoyed golf, attending operas, and classical music performances. He was an avid self taught student of Math, Theology and Philosophy studies and enjoyed European travel. Recently retired, he was employed in the past years at local plumbing supply companies, as well as plumbing and heating services. John generously donated his time and skills to various religious organizations and was a lector at St. Ann’s Parish. Friend of Bill W. He will be missed by all whom had the pleasure of knowing him.

Son of the late Joseph and Lila (Horton) Byrne. Beloved husband of Frances (Nufrio) Byrne. Dear sister to Jane and her husband Kevin Crowley of Quincy, the late Marilyn Donovan, Anne Byrne, and Susan Byrne. Caring uncle of Kimberly Crowley, Rachelle and her husband Edward Duff, Mary Ellen Donovan and John Donovan.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to Missionaries of Africa, Attn: Fr. Gene Robitaille, 5757 7th Ave North, St. Petersburg, FL 33710-7112
