John F. “Lefty” Griffin of Braintree, formerly of Quincy and South Boston, died October 20, 2016, at the age of 81.

John worked in construction, retiring from R.J. Devereaux in Boston after many years. After retiring, he worked as a clerk for Tedeschi’s in Quincy Point. John was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and Notre Dame Football. He enjoyed spending time at Castle Island in South Boston.

Husband of the late Sarah A. “Sally” Griffin. Loving father of Colleen Griffin of Brockton, John Griffin of FL and Maureen Griffin and husband Keith of FL. Brother of Marie Donlan and her late husband Paul of Manomet, and the late Thomas “Bubby” Griffin and Julia Griffin. Brother in law of Margaret Scholl and husband George, John M. Jones, Sr. and wife Marsha, Fred Jones and wife Janet, Pat Cadoratte, and Bertha Hooker and the late Stephen Jones. Grandfather of Gage and Dylan. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial in Plain Street Cemetery, Braintree.
