John F. “Jack” Youngclaus

John F. “Jack” Youngclaus of Weymouth passed away at home on April 23, 2017 in the loving arms of his wife of 50 years, Ann Marie (Tehan) Youngclaus; his daughters Ellen M. Youngclaus of Quincy and Julie A. Youngclaus Johnson of Warwick, RI, and his sister, Sr. Peggy Youngclaus, SND of So. Boston.

He was also the brother to Paul J. Youngclaus of Marshfield and the late Fred “Tim” Youngclaus; and son to the late Fred and Josephine Youngclaus.

Jack was born and raised in Dorchester. He moved to Weymouth 48 years ago. He loved to read about history, take cruises, gardening, playing cards, the Bruins, walking Mayflower Beach and family reunions in Vermont. He was active in community service as member of town meeting, the North Weymouth Civic Association, Weymouth’s Planning Board, the Weymouth Board of Selectmen, twice as Chairman and was Chairman of the Charter Commission that changed Weymouth from a town meeting form of government to a city form of government. He was also a member of the Norfolk County Advisory Board and proudly served as a member of the Naval Air Reserve at the Weymouth Naval Air Station. He was also a Eucharistic Minister at South Shore Hospital. He is loved by many nieces and nephews and a large group of cousins. He will miss them all.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
