John F. Alexopoulos

John F. Alexopoulos,  of Weymouth, died November 21, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Demetra “Dee” (Pappas) Alexopoulos. Loving father of John A. Alexopoulos and his wife, Wendy, of Hanson, and Maria A. Lewis and her husband, Tony, of Wareham. Cherished “Papou” of Drew, Carly, Ryan,Scott, and Kyle,. Dear brother of George Alexopoulos of Roslindale, Mary Poravas of Winchester, Sophia Higgenbottom of Weymouth, and the late Sue Mantouvales, Peter and Agamemnon Alexopoulos. John is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

John proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII as a Sergeant in the 517th Parachute Infantry,Company B. He was the proud owner of John’s Cafe for many years and then worked as a bar manager at the Quincy VFW for over 20 years.  John was an avid sports fan.  He also loved working in his yard as well as spending time with his family and friends. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 3-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM Monday prior to the Funeral Service in St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree, MA at 10 AM  Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:30PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to either St. Francis Xavier Music Program, 234 Pleasant Street, Weymouth, MA 02190 or Horizons for Homeless Children, 1705 Columbus Ave., Roxbury, MA 02119.
