John A. King, 75, Weymouth, died at approximately 9am on Thursday October 5, 2017 from a sudden heart attack at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth Massachusetts.

He leaves his son Alexander King, 32 and was the widower of the late Catherine King who passed in 2011. A woman he continued to love and remember fondly till his own passing.

Born and raised in London England he received his degree in 1963 in Computer Science from the London School of Commerce and launched his life long career and passion in software development at ICL. While at ICL he would meet his wife Catherine whom he married in 1984 in Pleasanton California. Having his only son with Catherine, Alexander in November of that same year. After a brief stint with a software company in Silicon Valley and later San Diego, John relocated his family to outside of Boston in 1987 where he started his career developing retail software for Grossman’s Inc. In the spring of 1998 John accepted the position of Director of Information Systems for the company where he played an important role directing the company’s early digital transformation during the dot com years.

John Retired from Grossman’s in 2007 and settled down with his wife in Weymouth. Although he had no hobbies he was a loving Husband and father throughout his life. After the sudden loss of his beloved wife Catherine to cancer he continued to live with his son Alexander who took care of him in his last years.

Funeral Services will be private. Memorial donations can be made to the Diabetes Research Institute in Hollywood Florida.
