Joan E. O’Rourke

Mrs. Joan E. (Josephs) O’Rourke of Weymouth, passed away peacefully at home on June 22, 2022.

Joan was born in Chelsea, as a child spent time on the islands in Boston Harbor before moving to N Weymouth.She spent years in various careers including store private detective, medical assistant at Carney Hospital, varied roles in food service, including owning her own local luncheonette in Bicknell Square as well as many years at the Cathay Center in various roles, all before retiring as a mental health worker at the former Long Island Shelter.

Besides spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed singing, camping, traveling the country in their RV, bird watching, animal rescue, the ocean and beach days to name a few. If you knew you her you knew her favorite color was purple. She possessed a quick wit and many a fierce one liners.

Beloved wife of the late James P. O’Rourke. Loving mother of Stephen Doyle and his wife Katherine, Julie Doyle and her partner Robert Reid, Sharon Doyle, all of Weymouth and the late Jeffrey Doyle. Sister of Jack Josephs Jr of Hull, Christine Josephs of Quincy, Judith Vigeant of Weymouth. Grandmother of Russell and his wife Nikki, Kendra, Ashli and her fiance Eric, Sean, and Brendan. Great Grandmother of Travis and Trevor. Also her many extended family members.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday 1-4PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square), followed by her funeral service at 4 PM. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the MSPCA or animal shelter of your choice and St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
