Jeanne Rossignol Daley

Jeanne Rossignol Daley died March 13, 2023 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA. She was 77.

Jeanne was born July 5, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA, where her father, Clement Franklin Rossignol of Manchester, NH, was stationed while serving in the Army. Her mother, Irene Van Der Beken Rossignol, was also from Manchester. Shortly after her birth, Jeanne and her parents moved back to Manchester where she grew up along with three brothers and a sister. She attended St. Joes Catholic High School and worked part time as nurses’ assistant at Elliot Hospital in the Geriatric Unit. This started her long and rewarding career in nursing. In September, 1963, she enrolled in Catherine Laboure College of Nursing in Boston, MA. She graduated with high honors in June, 1966.

Jeanne settled in Bridgewater and Hingham Massachusetts where she raised three daughters and pursued her successful career in nursing at Cardinal Cushing Hospital, various doctor’s offices, Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., and Blue Cross Blue Shield. In retirement, she volunteered at South Shore Hospital, Hospice, and at St. Paul’s church. In addition to her nursing work, Jeanne was an avid and very talented needleworker including sewing, crocheting, and needlepoint. She loved the arts, particularly music and dance, and she loved being with her family and friends for cultural events, shopping, dining out, and traveling.

Jeanne was a devoted mother to daughter Robin Doyle and son-in-law Scott Doyle of Atkinson, NH, daughter Kimberly Daley of Olive, NY, and daughter Colleen Gorman and son-in-law Patrick Gorman of Whitman, MA. She doted on her beloved grandchildren Michael Whiting of Bangor, ME, Thomas and Maggie Doyle of Atkinson, NH, and Skyla, KJ, and Gracey Gorman of Whitman, MA. She is predeceased by her partner of 20 years, Newton Swain, of Marbletown, MA. She is survived by her four siblings; Robert Rossignol of Acton, MA, John Rossignol of Colebrook, NH, Jo Ann Bergantino of Hyde Park, MA, and Mark Rossignol of Portsmouth, NH. She is also survived by extended family and many adoring friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 18 at 9:30 am at St. Paul’s in Hingham, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Symphony Orchestra.
