Jean F. Tierney

Tierney, Jean F. of Quincy, died April 23, 2015.  

Jean was born in Boston and a 1947 graduate of Our Lady of the Presentation High School in Brighton and a graduate of Rittners School of Floral Design. She lived in Quincy since 1947. She was a secretary at Edwin L. Pride & Co. for 9 years and David L. Babson & Co. for 38 years.  Jean was a Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy, former president of the Proparvulis Club, member of the Castle Island Association, Catholic Women’s Club of North Quincy, Mystic Valley Railway Society, and the Leos.  She was an instructor for the AARP Senior Driving Program for 14 years and would also drive the blind to mass and help them with bills. Jean volunteered for the Quincy Historical Society, Quincy Crisis Center, and was a tour guide aboard the 612 Nantucket Light Ship. Jean raised money for Catholic Charities for Sunset Point Camp. She enjoyed square dancing with the Spares “N” Squares, Scrambled 8’s, Buckaroos and round dancing with the Happy Rounds, as well as traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe with her friends. She also liked gardening, reading, and the theater. She was a wonderful sister and wonderful friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Daughter of the late John and Helen (Connick) Tierney. Cherished sister of Irene Kelley and her husband Robert of Rockland. Dear cousin of Charles Tierney and his wife Bobbi of Sarasota, FL. Loving aunt of Kevin Kelley of East Bridgewater and Scott Kelley of Rockland. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 AM Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 11:30 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean may be made to Sunset Point Camp, c/o Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Boston, 51 Sleeper St., Boston, MA 02210.
