James P. Sullivan

James P. Sullivan of Nantucket, formerly of Weymouth, died October 17, 2021 at the age of 91.

Jim grew up in Roxbury and graduated from B.C. High. He worked as an installment engineer for New England Telephone for many years. Jim’s passion was masonry and brick laying. He built his house in Nantucket with his own hands, and among the many projects he worked on was the wall at Fort Belvoir, VA. Jim was loved by many. A true good Samaritan, he would do anything for others in need. He was a people person and never met a stranger. Trips to Ireland to visit family was a great joy for Jim, and maintaining those Irish familial relationships through the years was paramount. Most of all, Jim cherished his role as a husband, father and grandfather. His family was his life.

Husband of the late Virginia (Miller) Sullivan. Loving father of Eileen Jamieson of Weymouth; Kathleen LaFavre and her husband Bruce of Nantucket; Nancy Holmes and her husband Dwight of Nantucket; Maureen O’Sullivan and her husband Mark Colucci of Falmouth; Virginia Bowditch and her husband Matt of Wellesley; Susan Sullivan and her husband John Crand of Northampton; the late Paul Sullivan; and the late James Sullivan. Brother of of the late Timothy, Francis, John, Thomas, Mary Shea, Edward, and Margaret Rose. Proud “Grampa” of Jennifer, Benjamin, Claudine, Gabrielle, Juliette, Gerard, Erin Marie, Jade, Aidan, Niles, Liam, Hannah, Virginia, Michelle and great grandchildren Vanessa, Cole, Sawyer, and Jason. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
