James M. Joy, Sr.

James M. Joy, Sr. of Quincy, formerly of Weymouth and Dorchester, died July 29, 2018.

Jimmy proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was the owner of J&P Masonry for 25 years, with his career as a skilled mason totaling 40 years with Local 3. He enjoyed golf, working with stained glass and remodeling. He was blessed with many years of travel and wintering in Arizona. He was truly full of life. He will be sadly missed. 

Devoted father of Christine M. Esposito and her companion John Hall of Abington, Debra Abdon and her husband James of Milton, Carolyn Reilly and her companion Steve Mahoney of West Bridgewater, James Joy, Jr. of Braintree, Joanne Howell and her husband Jay of AZ, Dianne Olafson and her husband Erik of TN, Jeffrey Joy and his wife Kerin of Weymouth and the late John M. Joy and his former wife Peggy Joy of Hanover. Cherished Grandpa of 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Former husband of Carol F. Joy of South Weymouth. Beloved son of the late James and Catherine Joy. Loving brother of Gerald Joy of Halifax, Linda Dineen of Quincy and the late John, Lorraine and Edward. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy’s family sincerely thanks Justine, Maria and Lauren at Shipyard Home Health Care and Cindy with South Shore Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Jimmy and his family during these difficult weeks.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street.

Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street, Rockland at 9 AM.

Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
