James M. Galvin

>Galvin, James M. of Quincy, died January 29, 2018.

Jim grew up in Jamaica Plain, but was a resident of Quincy for over 60 years. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. During his time in the Army Air Corps, he flew over 50 missions. He was a lifetime member of the Furnace Brook Golf Club and more recently, a lifetime member of American Legion Jamaica Plain Post. Jim was the recipient of the French Legion of Honor Medal. He had a great sense of humor and will never be forgotten. He will be sadly missed.

Dear husband of 62 years, whom he married on Christmas Day, to the late Josephine M. Galvin (Santisi). Cherished father to Geraldine Barnes and her husband Dr. Fred Barnes of Norwich, NY, Jeanmarie Turley and her husband David of Quincy, and James M. “Jay” Galvin Jr. and his wife Leanne of Weymouth. Also survived by Barara Bogue of Pembroke.  Beloved “Grampa” of 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA 02370.
