James ‘Gus’ Gustafson, passed away on Monday, April 15, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones as he peacefully departed this life.

A lifelong Weymouth resident, Jimmy was a fixture in the community, known for his generous spirit and kind heart. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service that touched the lives of many.

Jimmy was the devoted father of Rhonda Ann Lotti of Watertown and stepfather to Kathy Koudelka, Erica Furtado and Courtney Rudinoff. He was affectionately known as Papa to Katrina M Lotti, Colby Snow, Owen and Luke Rudinoff, Kierra and Conner Furtado. He also shared a special bond with Dougie Crowles, whom he treated like a son. He cherished his role as uncle to Kate V. Hill and Krystn M. Gustafson.

In addition to his immediate family, Jimmy had close family ties with Carol Boutilier, Johnny Sullivan , Chucky Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Debbie Younie, and Marky Davies. Together, they formed a close-knit circle of support and companionship. Jimmy also leaves behind many close friends and neighbors.

Jimmy is reunited in the afterlife with his parents, Donald and Marguerite, his brothers, Don, Paul, and Rich, his granddaughter Mariah, and his best friend Red Goodwin. Those of us left behind can imagine the welcome that Jimmy received when he arrived.

Throughout his life, Jimmy found joy in simple pleasures, whether reminiscing about his days playing high school basketball or enjoying the company of friends ‘down the beach’ or ‘under the bridge’. Above all, Jimmy’s greatest passion was helping others. Whether it was lending a hand, offering his time, or providing support, he was always there when someone needed him. From mowing lawns in the neighborhood to offering a listening ear, Jimmy’s kindness knew no bounds.

Jimmy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of compassion, generosity, and friendship will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps. May he rest in peace, forever remembered and cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy’s honor may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Center or the Weymouth Little League.
