James A. Tangney

Mr. James A. Tangney of  Weymouth, formerly of Dorchester, died peacefully on November 29, 2015.

Jim worked for 29 years as a Credit Writer for Jordan Marsh until his retirement in 1993. Following his retirement, he was a security officer for Bank of America. Jim the son of the late James and Gertrude was born and raised in Dorchester and was very active at Saint Leo’s Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 180, a 1957 graduate of Cathedral High School. An avid sports fan, Jim also had a wonderful sense of humor and always lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed walking, spending time in Lake Winnipesaukee, and the most joy brought into his life was spending time with his beautiful grandchildren. Jim also was a veteran serving in the United States Army where he was also in the military police in Germany. 

Husband of Ann M. “Nancy” (Shea) Tangney. Father of Kristina Tavares and her husband, Michael, of Weymouth, Nancy Tangney of Quincy, and Kathleen Scheer and her husband, Michael, of Braintree. Papa to Scott, Amanda, and Michaela. Brother of Paul Tangney and his wife, Rita , and Patricia Tangney all of Quincy. Brother in law of Ann Shea of Quincy and the late Patricia Ridlen and Gerald Shea. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off RT.3A-Bicknell Sq.)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
