Jacqueline A. Quirk

Jacqueline A. Quirk, a long-time resident of Hingham, died Thursday July 21st, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

Jackie, as she is known to friends and family, was born in New Haven Connecticut in 1928.  She moved to Somerville, MA where she met and married Joseph Quirk to whom she was married for 60 years.  Together Jackie and Joe raised four boys in the World’s End Neighborhood in Hingham.  Winters were spent in the Melbourne Florida home they shared where they enjoyed the warm weather and the company of many friends.

Jackie loved socializing and was the life of the party.  She had a sharp wit, great sense of humor and a warm and engaging personality.  She had the ability to make every person she came in contact with feel special and important.  She deeply connected with everyone she came in contact with and made lifelong friends eagerly.  During her life, Jackie worked for the American Heart Association, the Quincy Mayor’s Office of James Sheets and also volunteered working on various political campaigns alongside her husband.  Her greatest enjoyment, however, came from spending time with her family and friends either at holiday parties or just a casual visit.

Jackie is survived by her four sons, Joseph F. Quirk and his wife Elaine of Haverhill, MA, William S. Quirk of Hingham, Thomas S. Quirk and his wife Erica of Hingham and Edward M. Quirk and Kerri Doble of Marshfield.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tori Shanahan, Jennifer, Corey, Kayla and Angela Quirk, Ian Gingras. Also survived by her sister Marge Kelley of Michigan and her brother Edward Menzel of Tewksbury MA.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday 10 AM – 1 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 PM following visiting hours. All are welcome. Burial will take place at a later date and will be private.
