Helen R. Beal

null

Helen Hoye Beal, age 93, passed away April 20, 2017 after a year of declining health.

She was predeceased by her son, Stephen, husband Robert and brother, William Hoye.  She is survived by her children, Robert Beal, Jr, his wife Brenda and grandson LT John Beal USCG of Hingham; son William, his wife Brenda and grandsons Matthew and Anders of Orrington, Maine; daughter Diane, her husband Hurt and grandchildren Brooks and Amelia of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and granddaughter Marisa Podolski, husband Andy and their children.  She is also survived by her brother Richard (Louise) of Arizona and Eddie (Jo) of Alabama as well as many nieces and nephews.

Helen grew up in Houghs Neck and lived in Crow Point, Hingham for over 70 years.  She was a member of St. Paul Parish and had a full and wonderful life.  Helen loved to recall the good old days of the Crow Point Improvement Association and their Memorial and Labor day chicken barbecues at North beach.  Great memories as well being one of the founding members of Crow Point Sailing Club, and enjoying lemonade and PB&J’s with so many moms and kids at the “little beach”.  It was a great life.  Knitting was a favorite past-time; from fabulous sweaters to hats and mittens for the homeless of greater Boston (kids to vets). Helen was a voracious reader, smart and fiercely independent woman.  She dearly loved her kids and grandkids, a great sale, the Hingham Lobster Pound, jelly filled donut holes and Crow Point Pizza.

In lieu of flowers, Helen would welcome a donation to Home For Little Wanderers, 10 Guest Street, Boston, MA 02135, Hingham Veterans Benefit Fund, 210 Central St, Hingham, MA 02043 or Hospice of the South Shore 30 Reservoir Park Drive Rockland, MA 02370-1055

A memorial service and private interment of ashes will be at a later date.
