Helen M. (Condon) DeBello

Helen M. (Condon) DeBello, a Quincy resident for over 40 years and formerly of Dorchester, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 5, 2019. She was 83.

Born in Boston, she was raised in Dorchester and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (O’Regan) Condon. Helen attended local schools and graduated from the St. Joseph High School in Boston with the Class of 1954.

Helen worked in the banking industry with the State Street Bank as a portfolio manager. After her retirement, she went to work with hospice to care and serve the elderly. Helen loved the work she did and the relationships she built throughout the years.

The most important part of Helen’s life was her family, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved them all more than anything and there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for the people she cared about. Helen was very maternal and after her sisters died, she mothered her nieces and nephews as her own. A selfless and loving person, Helen always made a point to support her family and give back to her community. She was a generous benefactor to the Catholic Church, local organizations and politicians.

In Helen’s spare time she enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and keeping up with her favorite Boston sports teams. Helen loved watching the New England Patriots with her friends. She also enjoyed going to classical and country music concerts. Helen was an active member at One Thousand Southern Artery and the Kennedy Center.

Helen had a wonderful personality. She was fun loving, witty, independent and stoic. Her love, life lessons and example are her legacy that continue through her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Helen was the devoted mother of Donna DeBello DaSilva and her husband Avi of Tampa, FL and Tony DeBello and his wife Kimberly of Weymouth.She was the loving grandmother of Alana and Anthony DeBello, both of Weymouth. Helen was the dear sister of Thomas Condon and his wife Elizabeth of Westboro, the late: Michael Condon, Mary Yachimski, both formerly of Dorchester, William Condon and his surviving wife Chris of NY and Dorchester, Joseph Condon, Margaret Smith, Elizabeth Melanson, Catherine Higgins, all formerly of Dorchester.  She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday, September 10th 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, September 11th at 9 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.

Services will conclude with interment in Mt. Benedict Cemetery, Boston.
