Harriet B. Brigham

Harriet Benjamin Brigham, died Saturday March 18, after a brief illness.  She was born November 12, 1927 in Menands, NY.  Harriet was a resident of Hingham, MA and a former resident of East Orleans, MA and Troy, NY.  She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, John Gravatt Brigham.

After raising five children, she worked for the New York State Senate until her retirement.  During her retirement on Cape Cod, Harriet was involved with organizations that needed a helping hand such as the Church of the Holy Spirit and Nauset Heights Association.  She loved her days on Nauset Beach, cooking, needlework, quilting, knitting, and cheering for the Red Sox, especially her favorite “Big Papi”.

Harriet’s surviving children include two daughters, Ruth Gutermuth and her husband, Charles, of Berlin, NY, and Judy Brigham of Boston, MA and two sons, John Brigham Jr and his wife, Kate, of Hull, MA and William Brigham and his wife, Tina, of Troy, NY; as well as eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She was also the mother of the late Susan Brigham.  Harriet is survived by her dear lifelong friends, Mary Quinlan and Peggy O’Connor of Troy.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 25 at St. John’s the Evangelist Church in Hingham.
