Grace A. Hailer

With loving family by her side, Grace A. Hailer, formerly of Scituate, Hingham and Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2017.

Beloved wife of the late Paul J. Hailer. Born in Charlestown in 1924 to Edmund P. and Mary E. Brown, Grace was one of eight children and was later raised in Medford where she married World War II combat veteran Paul Hailer of Roslindale in September 1946. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and entertain friends and family by singing and playing the piano. She enjoyed fried clams from the old Satuit Grill, a good Manhattan, Brigham’s ice cream, or a chocolate frappe or hot fudge sundae from the soda fountain of her husband’s drug store in Scituate Harbor. Always active, Grace also studied local history at Quincy College later in her adult life, and with her husband, was a former member of the Hatherly Country Club and Scituate Harbor Yacht Club before they retired and lived in Sarasota, Florida for 25 years.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Grace’s life at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham on Thursday, January 19 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Mass will follow at St. Paul’s Parish, Hingham at 10 a.m.
