Gloria J. Schurman

Gloria J Schurman,  Age 90 of Quincy died peacefully at her home on November 22, 2015.

She was the proud and loving Mother of her daughter Susan C. Schurman of Quincy. Gloria dedicated a significant part of her life connecting with the mentally and physically handicapped children at the Murphy School, and while there, helped guide them with passion and love to reach their full potential. She was extremely generous in giving both her time and money to support human rights and animal rights causes close to her heart including assisting to organize the local Special Olympics.

Gloria was a faithful daughter bringing her mother into her home and caring for her daily for many years. Gloria’s relationship with her husband Erich flourished from their first blind date to his last day. Later in life Gloria spent much time with her daughter Susan and with her friends and relatives. Gloria’s life can best be described as a long and remarkable journey of creating smiles, bringing joy to everyone she met and making people feel better about themselves. She leaves behind many people she inspired to be gentler and kinder.  

Gloria was the daughter of the late Melissa Parker and Edgar Parker of Dorchester, MA. Gloria is also survived by her sister, Elva M. Connors of Dandridge TN, her daughter Susan C Schurman of Quincy, MA, her “Honorary” daughter Terri E. Ennis of Marshfield MA, her niece, Debora Lindstrom of Boca Raton FL, her Nephew William R. Connors of Mashpee MA, her great niece Megan V. Gagneur of Phoenix AZ, and her great nephew William Lippolis of Boca Raton FL.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet Wednesday at 11:45 AM at Keohane Funeral Home, QUINCY, to drive in procession for a graveside service at 12:30 PM at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to a charity of your choice.
