A. Gloria Ferullo

A. Gloria Ferullo, 91, of Weymouth died Tuesday, September 1 after a brief illness.

Born and raised in Weymouth, she was the eldest child of Anthony (Chuck) and Mary (Monahan) Ferullo.

She is survived by her brother, Kevin Ferullo and his wife, Jean, of Naples, Florida.  She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret (Ferullo) Andrea of  Naples, and her brother, Donald Ferullo of South Weymouth and Naples.

Gloria was a proud and active Emmanuel College alumna of the class of 1946.  After working her way through school as a math major, she entered systems work and programming in its infancy followed by a lengthy management career at Univac in Chicago, St. Paul and Dayton and the U.S. Government in Arlington, Virginia.  She travelled the world, made many lifelong friendships, and at the same time hosted family as their Washington, D.C. history teacher  and cherry blossoms tour guide while her nieces and nephews learned to dive in her Crystal City pool.

She retired to Weymouth in 1990 and continued to travel as a very active senior, involved with her large family, her many friends,  the Weymouth Newcomers Club, the Weymouth Senior Citizens, Emmanuel Alumnae, volunteer work at Weymouth Elder Services, and fiercely loving  every new family baby. She was upbeat, social and full of faith, always meeting friends and up for an outing.  She was a weekly communicant at Immaculate Conception Church.

Gloria’s retirement role  was loving, active, independent  and cherished matriarch aunt to 8 nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and nephews and 2 great great nieces and nephews.  She is survived and lovingly missed by her large network of  friends as well as her nieces and nephews: Ralph Andrea of Brockton and his partner, Christine Calter, and  children, Patrick Andrea and Jocelyn Andrea;  Jeanine Ferullo Adams of Hanson and her children Gregory Adams and Heather Adams DeMille and her husband, John DeMille; Richard Andrea and his wife, Cindy, of Braintree and sons Richard Andrea, Jr., Nicholas Andrea and Steven Andrea; Kenneth Andrea of East Bridgewater and his wife, Susan, and their children Kenneth Andrea, Jr., Benjamin Andrea, Mitchell Andrea and James Andrea; Pamela Ferullo Damon and her husband, Steve, of Snohomish, WA, and their children, Amy Damon, Sean Damon and Sarah Damon Shoen; Donna Ferullo of Watertown; Tony Ferullo of Rockland and his partner, Mary Higgins,  and son Kyle Ferullo.   Gloria’s nephew, Brian Ferullo of Sherborn, predeceased her in 2013, survived by her great nieces, Ryan Ferullo and C.J. Ferullo.    Sarah’s children, James and Adelyn Shoen, were the youngest great greats to light up  Auntie GoGo’s eyes.

She will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered in many hearts for her lifelong generosity, loving spirit and sense of fun.

Gloria was an active donor to Emmanuel College and to honor her memory the family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to her Alma Mater in her name.
