Gerard L. Delaney

Gerard L. “Jerry” “Butch” Delaney, of Quincy,  passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Beth Israel Milton Hospital Friday morning, February 15, 2019, he was 91.

Born in Hyde Park, he was the son of the late Joseph J. Delaney, and Margaret (Rooney).  Jerry was a United States Army Veteran, and worked for over 46 years for the Jordan Marsh Company in Downtown Crossing.  He was a daily communicant of Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy, and served as an usher for many years.  Jerry was an avid Boston sports fan, enjoyed big band music – especially Tommy Dorsey, and watching Lawrence Welk.     

Jerry was the beloved husband of 55 years of Gertrude D. (McGee) Delaney, brother of the late Mary Wightman, and “Uncle Butch” to many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Family and friends will gather in the funeral home beginning at 9 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
