Whelan, George M. of Hingham formerly of Bedford, New York, died February 18, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
George worked as an executive for IBM for many years before his retirement. He was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed reading, puzzles and playing bridge. George’s main passion in life was his family and spending time with those he loved. He will also be remembered for his engaging dry sense of humor. George will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
Beloved husband of Mary A. Whelan (Curran) of Hingham. Loving father of Lizann Woods and her husband Greg of Medfield, Tara Coveney and her husband Tom of Hingham, Chris Whelan and his wife Nancy of Cohasset, Kathy Whelan of Connecticut and Melissa West and her husband George of New York. Devoted grandfather of 14 grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be Private.
