Frederick P. “Big Mother” Sorrentino

Frederick P.“Big Mother” Sorrentino, a lifelong resident of Hingham, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on October 15, 2018, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 82.

Born in Hingham, he was the son of the late James and Frances (Drago) Sorrentino and attended local schools.

Fred worked as a truck driver for over thirty years. He worked for Clean Harbors and was very proud of the work his company was doing in the environmental industry.

In his spare time, Fred enjoyed driving around in his Chevy and being with his family and friends. He loved his freedom, so much that no one would ever know when or where he was going to pop up. If you couldn’t find Fred, there was a good chance that you would find him at either of his favorite places, the transfer station or the beach. He loved finding gently used items that he could repurpose. Fred was also an avid sports fan. He loved football and his favorite team was the New England Patriots.

Fred loved to joke around and have a good time. He was kind, caring and devoted to his family. Fred was proud of his children and grandchildren and the individuals they grew to be. His legacy continues through his children and grandchildren as they continue their lives with the lessons and values he shared with them. Big Mother will be missed by all the lives he touched.

He was the devoted father of James Sorrentino and his wife Cynthia of Providence, Rhode Island, Annemarie Wheeler and her husband Frederick of Weymouth and Lisa Steidle of Lake Mary Florida. Fred was the loving grandfather of seven and the dear brother of Samuel Sorrentino of Hanover. He is also survived my many loving nieces, nephews and his former wife Patricia A. Sorrentino. Fred was preceded in death by his siblings Anthony, Thomas and Angelia Sorrentino.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, November 6th from 9-10 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.

Fred’s life celebration will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 6th at 10 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham.
