Francis A. Hurley

Hurley, Francis A. “Frank” of Quincy, formerly of South Boston and Dorchester, died May 18, 2017.

Husband of the late Ruth (Farrell) Hurley. Father of sons Gerald of Quincy and Brian and his wife Judy of Norwell. Grandfather of Leah, Elizabeth and Liam. Brother of the late James and his wife Kay, sister Helen Forbes  of Easton and late husband Seward. John and wife Judy of Norwell, Gerald and late wife Gertrude of Concord and William and wife Elizabeth of Braintree.

Frank was born in 1927, he lived in South Boston, Dorchester and for the past 50 years in Quincy. He joined the Navy at 17 years of age and served in the South Pacific in WWII. He graduated from Boston College in 1951 and Boston Sate in 1952. He was a teacher, assistant principal and administrator for 42 years in the Boston Schools. He served as a teacher at the William Russell and Assistant Principal at the Murphy school. Frank also served as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent in charge of Personnel for many years. He was a life member of the Cavanaugh Chapter of the DAV Post, South Boston Yacht Club and the Retired Educators of Massachusetts.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank may be made to Work Inc. 25 Beach Street Dorchester MA. 02122.
