Frances E. Heney

Frances E. Heney (McElroy), 88, of Hingham, originally from Randolph, died July 2, 2015, at Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham. Born in Boston, Fran had been a Hingham resident for 48 years.  A graduate of Bridgewater State Teacher’s College, Fran taught first and second grade at the Nevin School in Weymouth before starting her own family.  A devout Roman Catholic, she was very involved in Opus Dei and spent much time at Arnold Hall Conference Center in Pembroke, where she had many close friends.  Fran traveled extensively with her husband, Joe, while he worked at CDM but was always happiest at home with her own growing family.  After her own children were grown, she thrilled in the birth of each new grandchild and doted on each one.  She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and always had a baked treat ready for her kids and their friends after school.  Fran was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Joe Heney and the loving Mother of Mary Heney and her wife Karen Clay of Newton, Dr. Jay Heney and his wife Dr. Therese Jacobs-Heney of Weymouth, Ted Heney and his wife Donna Heney of Bridgewater and Dr. Stephen Heney and his wife Toni Heney of Hanover.  Cherished Grandmother of Brendan, Connor, Jake, Brianne, Meaghan, Darien and Derek. Sister of the late Ted and Leo McElroy, Kay Clooney and Etta Hoey.  Aunt Frannie is survived by many nieces and nephews.
