Eleanor Thu-Har Mathews (née Lew) of Chester, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully and suddenly in her sleep on March 6, 2023. She was 78 years old.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Wing Jong Lew and Pon How Lee. Ellie loved to be surrounded by family and friends, and she treasured large holiday gatherings, cruises, and trips to the casino. She made an instant connection with everyone she met with her friendly, outgoing demeanor.

She was the beloved wife of the late Denis Mathews. Devoted mother of Denis Mathews of Weymouth, MA; Michelle Mathews of Lake Suzy, FL; Mark and his wife Gina Mathews of Rockland, MA; and Donnah Mathews Plante and her husband Matthew of East Greenwich, RI; Adoring grandmother of Kelly Mathews of Rockland, MA; and Riley, JD and Aubrey Plante of East Greenwich, R.I. She was the cherished sister of May Zaborski and Tommy Lew, and the late Kan Shu Lew, Leo Lew, Mary Woo, Jennie Semler, Johnny Lew, Billy Lew, Kan Toy Lew, Nancy Fountain, and Henry Lew.

She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 AM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea St. (off Rt. 3A-Bicknell Sq.), Weymouth. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
