Edward G. Curran of Sandwich, formerly of Weymouth and Braintree, died February 3, 2018 at the age of 85.

Ed was a graduate of Thayer Academy in Braintree and attended Harvard University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and enjoyed a 32-year affiliation with John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company where he began his career as a programmer in the advent of the computer era. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 5027 and the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club. In retirement, Ed enjoyed gardening, caring for his yard, and cooking. Most of all, Ed cherished his role as a proud father and grandfather.

He was the beloved husband of Darrylle A. (Donahue) Curran. Loving father of Lisa Curran Matte and husband Kevin of South Weymouth, Nancy Curran Harrington and husband Neal G. Harrington, Sr. of Weymouth, Susan E. Curran and husband J. Michael Hughes of Hingham, Edward G. Curran, Jr. and husband Leonard R. Lydon of Boston, and Daniel D. Curran of Sandwich and his former wife Heather Richards Curran. Cherished grandfather of  Neal G. Harrington, Jr., Meaghan F. Harrington, Jack Curran, Joe Curran, Reese Curran, Abbie Lydon Baumann, and Kelly Lydon; and great grandchildren Holden and Sawyer Baumann. Brother of Marion C. Kehoe of Plymouth and the late William J. Curran, Jr.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:45 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45 PM. Donations in memory of Ed may be made to the Office of Development, Shriners Hospitals for Children (to be directed to their Springfield location), 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
