Dorothy May Voelkel

Voelkel, Dorothy May (Yout) of Wollaston, was reunited with her devoted husband of 58 years, William G. Voelkel on January 20, 2018.

She was predeceased by her parents Matthew and May Yout, her sister Mary Fenton, great grandson Braden Michael Yee and Chance Harris Eaton and many relatives.

At age 45 she was part of the first LPN graduating class of Quincy College School of Nursing and retired at age 75 from Carney Hospital.  Dot was a 47 year resident of Wollaston and St. Ann’s Parish.

Known for having strong principles, determination and resourcefulness she never faltered in her belief in God which was her foundation through life.  Prior to a stroke in 2008, she loved cooking, entertaining, sewing, creating gingerbread houses and was active as a member of the LIVE Yers at the Quincy YMCA.

Dot is survived by her children Susan Leary and her husband Edward of Wollaston, William Voelkel and his wife Sandra of GA, Denise Eaton and her husband Paul of Lowell and Richard Voelkel and his wife Vicky of TN.  She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to the staff of 3 north of Marian Manor for their incredible love and caring over the past 9 1/2 years.  It has been a blessing to our family.  We also want to thank all the family and friends who brought Dot joy with their cards and visits.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.  Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
