Dorothy A. Smith

Private Service

Smith, Dorothy A. (Lang) of Hingham, formerly of South Boston, age 93, passed peacefully on June 24, 2017, in her daughter’s arms.

Her family was most important to Dorothy and she took great pleasure in her daughter and grand daughter’s lives.  Dorothy enjoyed traveling the world with her husband.  They were adventurous spirits who learned from many different cultures around the globe.  She was a woman who took great pride in her appearance and was the epitome of style, never leaving home unless she had the perfect outfit and accessories selected.  In her final months she was cared for by a phenomenal group of women who loved her, treated her with dignity, and allowed her to pass in comfort.  Her fun loving attitude, sociable personality, and sense of adventure will be missed by all who loved her.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Fred I. Smith. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Maureen Marcell, Bob Marcell, her son-in-law, of Duxbury, and her granddaughter Alyson Marcell of Quincy.  Also left to remember her are her sister, Theresa Crawford of Dedham and nieces Karen Hughes, Janice Lopez, and Patricia Malloy and their children.

Services will be private.  A memorial will be held later in the summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, PO Box 105, Glenolden, PA 19036 or The Lipo Sarcoma Genome Project at MGH Fund, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114-1101.
