Dorothy A. Lindsay

Dorothy A. (O’Keefe) Lindsay, 88, of Weymouth, formerly of South Boston, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2015.

Beloved wife of 62 years of James C. Lindsay of Weymouth. Loving mother of Dorothy Kelley and her husband Christopher of East Bridgewater, James C. Lindsay, Jr. of Weymouth, Thomas F. Lindsay of Weymouth and Joseph A. Lindsay of Hingham. Cherished Nana of Sean and Lindsay Kelley. Dear sister of Florence Bothwell of Whitman and the late Lillian Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Josephine Kelly, John “Sonny” Yankowski and Donald Yankowski.

 Dorothy was a talented musician who sang in the trio the “Sunbeams” on the radio in the 1940’s, and performed in many minstrel shows throughout her life.  She was a proud graduate of South Boston High School, Class of 1944.  After high school, she attended and graduated from Stratford Business School and immediately began to work for The Salada Tea Company. Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother who took great joy in filling her home with lots of love, laughter, and happiness. Her love of music, singing, and dancing was shared generously with her family and friends. In addition to her vocal abilities, she was a gifted pianist.  Dorothy was an advocate of many special needs programs throughout her lifetime. She taught CCD and volunteered at the William Seach School in Weymouth. In her spare time, she was an avid bowler and gardener.

 Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4:00-8:00 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home at 809 Main Street in South Weymouth (on Rte. 18 opposite South Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Thursday prior to the funeral at St. Albert the Great Church in East Weymouth at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
