Doris E. Hillyer (Peardon), age 97, of Weymouth died peacefully in her sleep June 6, 2018.
Beloved wife to the deceased Clifford Hillyer of Weymouth. She was the loving mother of Dianna Hillyer of Weymouth, the late Clifford Hillyer and his wife Barbara of Florida, and Vincent Hillyer and his wife Jacqueline of Abington. Dear sister of Gertrude Norwood of Florida and Jean McNamara of Whitman. Devoted Grammy to Leigh Ann Drake, Allison Hillyer (Deceased), Lauren Olson, & C.J. Hillyer. Great grandmother to Erica, Kevin, and Claire along with many nieces and nephews. Doris was born in South Boston but grew up in Weymouth and in her early years enjoyed roller skating at Nantasket Beach and dancing before meeting her future husband, Navy “Chief” Cliff, while working at the Quincy Ship Yard. Upon marriage, they were stationed in California and Florida before settling back in Weymouth.
She took her greatest enjoyment from gardening, bargain hunting and going out for a very hot coffee. Doris could also be often found at a ballgame keeping score while sitting behind the backstop. She will be remembered for her great wit, energy and willingness to talk to anyone at any time. She maintained these traits until her last breath, “leaving them laughing”, and will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A private memorial will be held.
