Donald R. Gustafson, Jr

Gustafson, Donald R., Jr. “The Don” of North Weymouth and Foxboro, died March 23, 2015. He was 74.

Don was born at Quincy City Hospital in 1941 and was raised in North Weymouth. He spent his youth playing little league baseball for the Weymouth Herring League, the town’s first ever Little League, started in 1952. He graduated from Weymouth High school, spent some time playing semi-pro baseball for the Cape Cod League and later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He was the proud co-owner of Reed’s Auto Radiator Shop in Norwood with his late brother Paul A. Gustafson for 25 years. Don served as Secretary of the Norwood Rotary Association from 1980-1986. He brought up his family in Foxboro and  worked as a metal tradesman for the Local 537 in Boston for the past 19 years. Don was an avid college basketball and football fan, with his all time favorite teams being Notre Dame and Boston College. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, attending their sporting events and  making long weekend trips to Dennisport and Plymouth to be by the ocean. He will be remembered for his love of family, devotion to his friends and his work ethic.

Devoted father of Krystn M. Gustafson of Foxboro and Katherine V. Hill and her husband Joshua of Foxboro. Former husband of Michelle (Moroz) Gustafson of Foxboro. Cherished “Grampy” of Ava Leigh and Andrew Reid Hill. Loving brother of Richard and Jimmy Gustafson of North Weymouth and the late Paul Gustafson. Uncle of Rhonda Ann Lotti. Very special  friend of David Lacey of Melrose, David Kelly of Billerica, Stevie and Darcey Hassett of Foxboro and James Yowell of Attleboro.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off RT.3A-Bicknell Sq.)  Funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 7 PM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Don may be made to the Weymouth Little League, PO Box 134 East Weymouth, MA 02189.
