Donald F. Riel, of Norwell and Naples, FL, passed away on July 1, 2018, at the age of 83, after a period of failing health.

US Navy veteran, Korea. Don was a much-loved teacher of auto mechanics at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School. His lifelong passion for cars lead to restoring antique and classic cars, as well as sharing his knowledge with friends and neighbors. Donald and his wife were longtime colonial militia reenactors, attending parades and encampments. Together, Don and Lorraine enjoyed many years of travel. Donald is remembered as a gentleman of strong faith who always put family first.

Beloved husband of 58 years of Lorraine M. Riel (Ananian). Loving father of Letitia A. Riel of West Roxbury and Naples. Brother of Henry Michael Riel of Brewster and the late Kenneth J. Riel and his wife, Marilyn, of Plymouth. Uncle of Stephen Riel and his wife, Stephanie, of Georgetown, and Cynthia Riel of Rockland. Great-uncle of Gabrielle Riel of Georgetown.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday, 4-8 PM, in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH, at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8 AM Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Helen’s Church, Norwell, at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Washington Street Cemetery, Norwell.
