David A. Rafferty Jr.

David A. Rafferty Jr., 81 years old, of Naples, Florida and formerly of Hingham, Massachusetts, died March 20, 2018. Born on January 11, 1937, the son of the late David Andrew Rafferty Sr. and Louise Hurley Rafferty. He was the loving husband of 55 years to the late Marilyn Cataldo Rafferty and pre-deceased by his son David A. Rafferty III.

David was a graduate of BC High and Boston College class of 1958. He later received his Masters degree in Education. Throughout his life, David was actively involved in both BC High and Boston College Alumni Associations. He was the Co-Founder of the annual Boston College Alumni golf tournament in Naples, Florida to benefit the Foundation for the Developmentally Disabled. David worked in Sales for Dow Chemical for 36 years. He spent his summers in Onset Bay, Massachusetts, where he enjoyed golfing and socializing with family and friends. David found enjoyment as Commodore and Co-founder of the Oysterville Yacht Club. He was an avid Boston sports fan and never missed an opportunity to watch a game. David greatly enjoyed the many visits to Florida by his two daughters and their families. He cherished visits with his grandchildren and hearing all about their lives. He was so proud of each one of them. Most importantly, David is remembered for his sense of humor and positive attitude despite being faced with many challenges in his life.

David is survived by his two daughters; Carolyn and her husband Jim Morrissey of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and Julie and her husband John Curtin of Chester, New Jersey; his seven loving grandchildren: Kristin, Kara, Erin, Lindsey, Meghan, David, Meredith; his dear sister Patricia Rafferty Lopes and her husband Bob Lopes of Naples, Florida; his sister-in-law Carol Flaherty of Norwood, Massachusetts;his very special nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend Dick Murphy.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10 AM. Burial in Hingham Cemetery, Hingham.
