David L. Hardy

Hardy, David L.,age 70, of Hingham, formerly of Hyde Park and Greenville, ME, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Easter Sunday morning, April 16, 2017.  

Family was the foundation of David’s life and music kept him centered.  He worked as an elementary school teacher for the Boston Public Schools for 37 years.  David enjoyed sailing, reading, live music, and loved a good laugh.  A special time in his life was living in Santa Barbara, CA while earning his Masters Degree in Education in Reading from UCSB.  He was passionate about education and continued to work as a substitute teacher in his retirement, as well as assisting students who dropped out of school to acquire their GED certificates.  A compassionate man by nature he participated in the Relay for Life program and supported many LGBTQ causes.  He was a former president of Hingham Youth Football.  David will be remembered for his zest for life, positive attitude, energy, and his empathy towards others. 

Beloved husband of 47 years of Jeanne M. (Shea) Hardy of Hingham.  Loving father of Michael J. Hardy and his wife Tracy of Douglas, Ben Hardy of CA, and Shea Spencer Hardy and his wife Beth of UT.  Dear brother of Lou Hardy of CT, Liz Hardy-Jackson of Hyde Park, and the late Michael D. Hardy.  Proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren. He is also survived by his cherished in-laws, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.  Guests will gather at the Church on Friday morning just prior to Mass at St. Pius X Parish, 101 Wolcott Road, Milton, MA 02186 at 10 AM.  Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
