Cornelius J. Connolly, Jr.

Connolly, Cornelius J., Jr. of Norwell, died July 11, 2017.

Cornelius was born in 1933 in Boston, MA. Cornelius was raised in Mission Hill and was a graduate of Mission High School and Bentley College. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. Cornelius worked as a bank examiner at the State Banking Department for over 32 years, retiring in 1996. Cornelius lived in Hingham for 30 years before moving to Norwell in 2005.  He was a member and former treasurer of the Weymouth Lodge of Elks.

Beloved husband of the late Mary T. (Foley) Connolly. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his two children, Cornelius J. (Neil) Connolly, III of Norwell, and Maura Longueil and her husband Jeff of Hanover. He was a devoted grandfather (affectionately known as “Grumpy”) to Brendan, Mary and Colin Longueil. Caring brother of the late Thomas Connolly.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 p.m. in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), Hingham. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 8:15 a.m. on Monday, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Helen Church, Norwell at 9 a.m. Burial to follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
