Clarence Richard Maher

Clarence Richard “Dick” Maher of Weymouth, died February 14, 2018 at the age of 98.

Dick grew up in Wakefield and moved to Weymouth in 1994. In the 1940’s, he played AAA baseball with the Red Sox, Cardinals and the White Sox, striking out three future Hall of Famers. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, fighting forest fires.  For many years, he worked as the oven room supervisor for Friends Baked Beans in Malden.  He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sketching and oil painting.

Devoted husband of the late Janet L. (Cole) Maher. Loving father of Stephen P. Maher of Weymouth and Pamela Maher and her husband Vicente Lomeli of Los Gatos, CA. Caring brother of 13 siblings. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family is deeply grateful to Jane Castignozzi, CNA for her years of compassionate and devoted care of their father.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital) on Tuesday from 10:30-11 AM prior to the funeral service at 11 AM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
