Claire A. Carroll

Claire A (Walsh) Carroll, 86, of North Quincy passed away peacefully Saturday, December 3, 2016  surrounded by the love of her adoring family.  Claire was born in Boston to William and Alma Walsh and graduated from South Boston High School.  She was the beloved wife of the late Francis G Carroll, Sr. Korean War Veteran.  Claire and Frank raised their family in North Quincy where they lived for almost 50 years.  Claire brought joy to all that knew her with amazingly quick wit as well as with her warm and sweet nature.  She loved to cook, sew, paint, knit and when arthritis slowed her beautiful hands she happily indulged in one of her favorite pastimes: reading…she was never without a book or two nearby.  Claire loved not only her own children but all children and delighted in volunteering at whatever schools her kids were attending.  When her youngest children were in middle school she went to work at North Quincy High School in the attendance department.  She eventually resumed her pre-marriage career at New England Telephone… a job that provided her with both a sense of pride and a wonderful group of girlfriends. Claire loved to gather her growing family to weekly Sunday dinners, and Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations . Claire was the devoted mother of Francis Carroll Jr of Weymouth, David John Carroll of Quincy, James Carroll and his wife MaryEllen of E Sandwich, Patrick Carroll and his wife Marianne, Paula Bettle and her husband Paul, and Pamela Cronin and her husband Paul all of Kingston.  She was the dear Nana and co-conspirator to Bridget, Abigail, Colleen, John, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Shannon, Colin, Jack and Matthew.  Loving sister of Carole Walsh of GA and the late Robert Walsh and John Walsh, Ret.Col. United States Army.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 8:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 9 AM.
