Cheryl A. Whitmarsh

Cheryl Ann Whitmarsh of Braintree passed away after a long battle with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma on January 22, 2023. 

Born on 4/14/67, Cheryl is survived by her beloved partner Deborah Stewart, their dog Cali, her loving mother Catherine (Palmisano) Whitmarsh of Middleboro, her sister Donna Whitmarsh of Marshfield, lifelong friend Monique Mealey of Braintree, as well as countless friends and family members.  She is predeceased by her father Stewart Whitmarsh.

Cheryl was raised by her parents with her sister Donna in Kingston, MA. She graduated with the class of 1985 from Silver Lake Regional High School.  After high school Cheryl attended and graduated with her B.S. degree from St. Joseph’s College in North Windham, ME. Upon graduation Cheryl lived and worked in the Boston area for a period and then took the opportunity to seek adventure. She lived and worked in Houston, Texas then Madrid, Spain. 

Upon returning to the United States, Cheryl began work at Harvard’s School of Public Health. She worked there for over 25 years and earned her MBA from Simmons College during that time.  At the time of her passing Cheryl held the position of Director of Endowment Gift and Chart of Accounts at Harvard’s T.H Chan School of Public Health.  

Cheryl loved traveling and did so often with Deb. Some of her favorite trips included Ogunquit, Provincetown, Key West, San Francisco, the Grand Canyon, and Spain.  She enjoyed driving in her Jeep, being near the ocean, walking Cali, and watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. 

Cheryl was genuine, sincere, kind, and the best listener. She made you truly feel heard. She was a devoted friend and loving daughter and sister. She took great pleasure in spending time with her friends and family. Cheryl had the absolute best smile and laugh. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know or meet her.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to honor Cheryl during the visiting hours on Monday, January 30, 2023 from 3-6 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A memorial service will be held following visiting hours at 6:00PM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home.
