Charles F. Crowley

Charles F. Crowley, 59 years old of Trenton, ME, and Weymouth MA; passed away July 15, 2018, suddenly and unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack.

Charlie was born in Boston and grew up in Weymouth as one of 6 boys. He attended Weymouth North High School, the class of 1977, and was an outstanding athlete who led both the football and basketball teams. He had height, speed, strength, and skill.

He graduated from UMass-Amherst, entered a management program at a large bank but realized corporate life was not for him, and then began work at the Bar Harbor Golf Course. He became the general manager and course superintendent, working there for 35 years. He was well known throughout the Trenton-Ellsworth area as well as the Maine golf community.

Charlie worked hard, played hard and wasn’t the easiest boss, but the members, customers and employees liked and respected him. To say he will be missed would be a colossal understatement. He had many special friends there.

He was easy to be around (usually), had a quiet generous side, and was beloved by everyone who got to know him. He had a great way with kids and was always the most popular uncle at the family Christmas party. He loved dogs and there was always 1 or more riding around the golf course with him, from King to Oscar & Felix.

In recent years Charlie’s life changed. He had a bitter battle with throat cancer that almost cost him his life and took 2 years to recover from. After that he found great happiness with Ann Scribner, his loving partner to whom we are very grateful.

Charlie was predeceased by his father Paul Crowley Sr. He leaves his mother Amelia of Weymouth; his brother Paul of Falmouth, ME, wife Delia and daughter Cara; his brother Ronald of Delaware, son   Timothy & daughter Jaclyn; his brother Richard of Weymouth, daughter Cindy & son Douglas; his brother Lawrence of Weymouth, wife Jeanne and daughters Amanda & Lindsey; his brother Thomas of Southborough, wife Judy and daughters Rachel, Katie, & Nicole; and Ann Scribner of Trenton, ME.

A wake will be held Friday July 20th from 4PM-8PM  at McDonald-Keohane Funeral Home on Sea Street in NORTH Weymouth, MA, with a funeral mass on Saturday July 21st at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth. Burial to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.

Our friends from the Ellsworth area are very welcome to attend, but given the distance and expense involved, we will also hold a memorial service in Ellsworth in August or September, to be announced within a few weeks.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or Ducks Unlimited, Inc. of Memphis, Tennessee (www.ducks.org).
