Carl A. Meyer, Jr.

Meyer, Carl A., Jr. of Hingham, formerly of Exeter and Hampton Falls, NH, South Boston, Roslindale, West Roxbury and West Harwich died on May 12, 2015 at 2:10 AM. Devoted husband of Dorothea (Davis), loving father of Carl III and wife Elaine of Dedham, Robert and wife Karen of Falmouth, Cheryl Egan and husband Thomas of Saugus, Lisa Salvas and husband Raymond of Holden, Lori Gaudreau and husband Michael of Wilmington. Also survived by his nine loving grandchildren Valerie, Jennifer, Eric, Katie, Carolyn, Mason, Emma, Oliver and Joseph. Deceased siblings of Carl were William of Cheyenne, WY, John of Andover, MA, Elizabeth of Vegas, NV, and Natalie Drelick of Hampton Falls, NH. 

Born in 1924 in Exeter, NH, educated in Exeter and Hampton Falls schools. He moved to Hampton Falls in 1934 until he was transferred to Charlestown Navy Yard from Portsmouth during the war. He moved to Boston in 1943 and was employed at the Federal Reserve Bank from 1946 until 1986 when he retired as Armored Car Coordinator.

While living in West Roxbury he served on Parents Group Fundraising Committees at Mt. St. Joseph Academy and the CYO Band and Color Guard at St. Theresa’s Parish. 

He moved to West Harwich on Cape Cod in 1983 and retired in 1986. He became active with the Kiwanis Club of Lower Cape Cod as Treasurer and Board Member for many years. He was also an active volunteer for the Council of Aging. While on the Cape, he enjoyed 23 happy years of fellowship and golf at Cranberry Golf Club in Harwich. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed the beauty of the beaches. He also spent 16 years in the Florida sun during the winter months.  In 2006, he moved to Linden Ponds in Hingham.  He was a true friend to all who knew him and appreciated his sense of humor.
