Brian J. Kawdji

Private Service

Kawdji, Brian J. of Quincy (formerly of Roxbury), died on May 29, 2020 after a courageous battle with liver cancer. He was born in Dakar, Senegal in 1963 and moved to Boston as a young boy. He passed away at the early age of 56 surrounded by his loved ones at his home. The beloved husband of 32 years and best friend of 40 years to Maria (Miscioscia) Kawdji of Quincy (formerly of Roxbury). Cherished son of Matilda Lopes of Brockton and the late Mahmoud Kawdji. Brother of Mariame Pires of Brockton and her husband Manuel, Safaa Ramos of New Bedford and the late John Teixeira of Brockton and his wife Clara. Son in law of Adeline “Lolly” Miscioscia of Quincy and the late Joseph N. Miscioscia. Dear Brother in Law to Joseph A. Miscioscia and his wife Renee of Braintree, and Steven Miscioscia of Quincy. Brian is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews as well as dear friends and relatives.

Ever a hard-working man, Brian started off as a teenager in the food industry working for Metro Deli in Cambridge and other numerous places as a short order cook. Brian never shied away from hard, honest work and eventually made a career out of it by holding several different labor-intensive jobs. He was a metal fabricator for Alcoa and ServoLift, a technician for Crompton & Knowles, a shipper-receiver for Flair of Boston and 7 years as a carpet installer for M.F. Moriarty.

Brian had an incredible zest for life equivalent only to his appetite for Maria’s abundant home cooking. They became soul mates early on as teenagers, with Maria being the “brains” of their operation, and Brian being the “muscle”. He will forever be remembered as the friendliest, and kindest soul. His love and laughter touched the hearts of everyone he met. Brian had a keen sense of humor and always had a ready laugh. His nieces and nephews, with whom he shared a deep connection, all looked up to him as the “cool”, “goofy” and “playful” Uncle Brian. His courage and will to survive was strong to the very end. Anyone who has visited or spoken to him during the past few weeks has heard him declare, that he “was not going anywhere yet!”

Brian had a passion for the Boston Bruins and a deep admiration for his “boy” Brad Marchand. So much so, that he will be wearing number 63’s jersey to say, “goodbye.” The family has decided to make the service attire casual to honor Brian’s last wishes. Friends and family attending the service are asked to wear Bruins attire or the team colors (Black, Yellow or White).

Family, friends, and neighbors will always fondly remember Brian as a genuine good guy. He was truly a ray of sunshine! We let go knowing he is smiling down from heaven and he will be there to greet us when we are finally called home ourselves. Until then, we will cherish all the memories he has shared with us during his very brief time with us all. Cheers buddy! Go Bruins!

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Go Fund Me set up in support of Brian at:

In consideration of current events and keeping in mind our number one priority of protecting our families and our community, Brian’s services are private. The burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Brockton. Normally, the funeral is an opportunity for the community to gather in support of one another. Although we cannot gather together with Brian’s family at this time, friends may still offer their support by sharing a special memory or message by clicking the link above.
