Ann M. (Bertella) Quinlan of Quincy, died November 24, 2015.
The beloved wife of the late Robert F. Quinlan, USAAC. Loving mother of Pamela Quinlan Mateu and Margaret Quinlan both of Quincy and Lee Quinlan Beavers of Northborough. Mother in law of George Walsh of Quincy and Don Beavers of Northborough. Cherished grandmother of James and John Mateu both of Boston, Emma Beavers and Lucy Brooks of London, England and Isabel Beavers of Boston.
Ann was born on Sept. 20, 1918 in Bridgeport, CT. She graduated from Lauralton Hall (Class of 1936) in Milford, CT. She was a 1940 graduate of St. Joseph’s College, Emmitsburg, MD., majoring in English, She was the bookkeeper for her beloved husband’s business and worked in the communications department at Talbot’s headquarters in Hingham. Ann, who was trained as an English teacher, went on to work as a substitute teacher at Quincy and North Quincy High Schools, retiring at the age of 90. She loved being with her wonderful students. Ann attended Mass at St. Boniface and Our Lady of Good Counsel Churches. When she retired, her favorite past time was spending time with her four grandchildren. She took great delight in playing Scrabble on Monday’s with her dear friends at the Kennedy Senior Center. Ann will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:15 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Quincy Tuesday at 10 AM.
Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ann may be made to Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall, 200 High Street, Milford, CT 06460.
