Anfrey R. Phillips

Anfrey R. (George) Phillips, of Braintree, passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2017, at the age 101, after years of battling Alzheimer’s and failing health.

Anfrey was born January 22, 1916 in Quincy to the late David and Annie (Slibey) George, raised and educated in West Bridgewater and has resided in the same home in Braintree since 1942. After becoming a widow in 1950 and raising her two children, Anfrey worked in several local factories including Hamilton Shoe of Braintree, Randolph Manufacturing Co., and Michael’s Handbags in Weymouth and Pembroke. Until being confined by Alzheimer’s, she was a regular communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth.

Always ready and willing to lend a helping hand, Anfrey will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity as well as her sense of humor.

Anfrey was the wife of the late Charles Phillips, her beloved Charlie, who predeceased her in 1950. She was the mother of two devoted children- daughter Margaret Phillips of Braintree, with whom she resided, and son Charles R. (Bob) Phillips, Sr., who predeceased her in 2015. She was the grandmother of Charles R. Phillips, Jr. of Sharon and David G. Phillips of Palm Harbor, FL; great grandmother of Ian Phillips of Taunton and Sydney and Graham Phillips of Whitman. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her 7 siblings, Rachel Elias, Fannie Hatch, Louis George, Della Kashan, George D. George, Sarah George and Lila George.

Her daughter wishes to express her gratitude to the health care workers of South Shore VNA Home Care Division and Hospice of the South Shore, as well as the staff of South Shore Elder Services for their care and assistance during the last 15 years.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 10 AM.

Burial in Village Cemetery, Weymouth.
